Doing an outdoor photo session in the Dominican Republic’s climate can be very tedious at any time of the year, since here we only have the name of the spring, autumn and winter seasons. The truth is that the Dominican Republic is a tropical country and it feels like summer all year round. Your clothes and hair can sweat, your makeup can smear, and countless other things can ruin your photo shoot.
Although some of these details can be fixed in Photoshop, of course we don’t want that. For these reasons, here I am going to leave you some interesting tips on the wardrobes that you should use and tips to ensure that your wedding session, family session, quinceanera session or any other type of session is a success in the summer.
Use light fabrics
The first thing is to use light fabrics that allow your skin to breathe. It’s okay to even show some skin from your arms and upper body. A very long and heavy dress will make you feel tired and hot very quickly, one or two hours of your session will seem like forever.
Suggestions for a second change of clothes.
And how about wearing a dress or shorts for a second change? Light clothing also for the groom, short-sleeved or long-sleeved shirts with rolled up sleeves. A change of clothes using something even lighter will make you relax during the session and we can bring out the best for your photos.
Use summer accessories
You can also play with summer accessories and be prepared for battle by wearing summer accessories like sun hats. You can even include summer-appropriate accessories that complement the groom’s outfit.
Wear comfortable shoes.
Choose comfortable shoes but above all, they match your wardrobe and what you want to project with your photo session. From what I have seen in my career as a photographer, it is more comfortable for women to wear open shoes and shoes with wide heels. If you are going to wear very high shoes, also take comfortable ones so that you can change them when you have to move around during the session.
If your family is participating in the session, match your colors to your family’s.
Combine the wardrobes with those of your family, in summer anything goes, you can wear sporty or casual clothes, they do not have to be completely the same but they do have to feel comfortable and there is a synchronization between colors and style of clothing. Avoid dark colored clothing such as black, but also not very bright colors and much less heavily patterned colors.
And since anything can happen in summer, if the weather turns ugly, don’t worry, we can still make the best of it.
I hope these tips for summer photo shoots have been very helpful to you. I tried to use examples with photos of this type that I have taken to serve as a guide.
